SFCompress (StoreFront 6 Compression) is an add-on for StoreFront 6 users. It has been tested on StoreFront versions 6.0 and 6.1.
SFCompress uses gzip technology to compress the page size of the StoreFront web pages. Where ever you see a large page size with Storefront, you will see significant reduction in the amount of data transmitted to the client. Best results are viewed with MODEM users.
SFCompress is compliant with all HTTP 1.1 browsers; normally any browser released after 1998 HTTP 1.1 is compliant. If a browser is not HTTP 1.1 compliant (thus not being able to use the gzip feature), SFCompress will transmit the page uncompressed to the client browser.

Why this add-on?
Due to the large page sizes created by StoreFront (some reaching 200k in size), we noticed that MODEM users were leaving our site before the page was loaded. To eliminate this problem, we decide to compress these pages, thus giving the users a quicker response from our catalog.
What does it compress?
SFCompress will compress any *.aspx page within your StoreFront application directory. SFCompress is not limited to the original StoreFront aspx pages, but any aspx page within the directory, including the management pages. Pages that have a large download size will see the greatest benefit. Pages that are small in size and are slow for StoreFront to process will not see that much of an improvement.
How do I install it?
You will need to copy two dll files to your application's /bin directory and add three lines of code to your web.config file. Instructions included will walk you through the process.
LicensingThis add-on is licensed by store. Each license allows you to use the add-on on one activated store and on an unlimited number of development stores. Please contact us for a quote if you need a license for multiple sites.
