Upgrading a StoreFront 2000 SQL Server Store to StoreFront 6.0

The purpose of this article is to describe to StoreFront 2000 users how they can upgrade their StoreFront 2000 SQL Server database web stores to StoreFront 6.0. Continue reading for more information.

To upgrade a StoreFront 2000 SQL Serverweb store to StoreFront 6.0:

  1. Open your StoreFront 2000 web store in FrontPage.

  2. Click on the StoreFront menu and select About. You must have a version number of 4.04.3 or greater. If your version number is less than this, contact StoreFront Support for further instructions before proceeding.

  3. Download the StoreFront 5.0 Database Upgrade Utility from http://support.storefront.net/Updates/download.htm.

  4. Double-click the downloaded executable to install the database upgrade tool.

  5. After the installation is finished, click on the Start menu and select StoreFront 5.0>>Database Upgrade Tool.

  6. Select Microsoft SQL Server Database and StoreFront 2000 to StoreFront SE.

  7. Click New.

  8. Open the Machine Data Source tab and click New once again.

  9. Select System Data Source and click Next.

  10. Select SQL Server and click Next.

  11. Click Finish.

  12. In the Name field, enter: sf2kug

  13. Leave the Description field blank.

  14. Enter the IP of the SQL Server that hosts your StoreFront 2000 web store's database in the Server field, then click Next. If you don't know this information, ask your host for it.

  15. Click Next.

  16. Select With SQL Server authentication using a Login ID and password entered by the user.

  17. Click Client Configuration.

  18. Select TCP/IP and make sure that the Server name field contains the IP of the SQL Server that hosts your database. Click OK after verifying this.

  19. Check Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration options and enter your SQL Server username and password in the fields immediately below. If you don't know this information, ask your host.

  20. Click Next.

  21. Select Change the Default Database to: and choose your database from the drop-down menu.

  22. Check Use ANSI Quoted Identifiers and Use ANSI nulls, paddings, and warnings.

  23. Click Next.

  24. Check Perform translation for character data.

  25. Click Finish.

  26. Click Test Data Source. If the test is successful, proceed to the next step. If the test is unsuccessful, review the previous steps to make sure you followed the instructions exactly. If the problem persists, contact StoreFront Support.

  27. Click OK.

  28. Click OK.

  29. Select the DSN you just created from the DSN list.

  30. Enter your SQL Server username and password in the fields to the right.

  31. Click Run.

  32. Your database will be upgraded to StoreFront 5.0 format.
