ADODB.Fields Error 8000

Posted Friday, April 23, 2004

StoreFront users may sometime encounter an ADODB.fields error when viewing the StoreFront ASP pages in a browser. This error generally indicates that the ASP page that is displaying the error trying to locate a field or table in the database that does not exist.

The first step in troubleshooting this error is to ask yourself ,”Have I customized any files or the database itself?” If the answer is yes, review your customizations to ensure that there are no references to nonexistent fields. If you cannot find a problem with your customizations, we suggest that you replace the database and the customized file or else return them to their previous state. StoreFront Support can not offer support for problems caused by customization.

If you have not performed any customizations that could affect the StoreFront files or database, consider the circumstances in which the error is occurring. Are you upgrading from a previous version of StoreFront, or applying an upgrade or security patch? Review the instructions for the upgrade and take note of any scripts or utilities that may need to be run to make changes to the database. For specific instructions regarding upgrade procedures, view the Knowledge Base article Upgrading from a Previous Version of StoreFront, or else view the instructions in the readme file that came with the download.

You may also wish to try replacing the file with a default copy from the StoreFront50.tem folder of your hard drive. If you are using StoreFront 5.0 for FrontPage, this folder will be located at [drive]:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\webs\storefront50.tem. If you are using StoreFront 5.0 for Dreamweaver or Dreamweaver UltraDev, the folder will be located at [drive]:\Program Files\StoreFront 5.0.D\storefront50.tem.
