If you travel and send email from a local email client like Outlook or Eudora you may have experienced your emails being sent back to you. This is because the isp you were connected to when you sent the email does not allow you to send email unless you use their outgoing smtp email server. The isp's do this to curb spam. I think this is no hurdle for the tech savvy spammers and a giant nuisance for everyone else.
Before when traveling or changing isp's for any reason I would embark upon a search for the isp's outgoing smtp mail server. Sometimes this would go quickly and sometimes it would take hours. I would then have to update each email account in my Outlook account settings. This added up to a hassle.
Here is what I do now to avoid the hassle. It involves downloading a small bit of software, installing it, and updating your email account settings once and for all.
Here are two bits of smtp software; one is free and the other is $49. The free version works great except it cannot be minimized to the system tray. The other can be minimized to the tray.
